Dilworth Plaza, that old, cold, concrete square due west of City Hall, is preparing to come alive this holiday season. Opening Thanksgiving Day, the German American Marketing, Inc. group, in cooperation with the City of Philadelphia, is operating a month-long Christmas outdoor shopping event. The open-air Christmas Village in Philadelphia pledges to be a light-filled extravaganza, with choir and orchestral performances, a sea of evergreen trees, and more than 50 booths marketing their wares. At the center of the experience will sit the red-suited, jovial Santa Claus himself.
